Northern Basin emerged through Chantelle Stewart’s colour-led process, central to her practice. The composition developed intuitively, guided by tonal shifts and layering, gradually echoing landform and water.
Inspired by shifting Australian light, blues and greens gather across the surface, recalling tidal pools, sandstone edges and natural basins. Rather than defining a fixed scene, Stewart allows landscape to surface through gesture and form.
At 123.5 × 145 cm, the work carries physical presence. Movement and stillness sit in balance, revealing themselves gradually over time.
Framing available in white, oak, dark chocolate or light chocolate timber at additional cost.
